Lewis Darwen is Poor Law Research Assistant at The National Archives (Kew), UK. He is author of two books, The Death Census of Black ’47: Eyewitness Reports of Ireland’s Great Famine (2023) and The Removal of Irish Paupers from Britain: 1819 to the Early Twentieth Century (2024).
