Nicola Marae Allain

Dr. Nicola Marae Allain is Professor of Arts and Media and former Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at SUNY Empire State University, where she has held faculty and administrative roles since 2002. Her teaching, scholarship, and leadership focus on digital media arts, visual pedagogy, online and immersive learning, emerging technologies, and the ethical integration of artificial intelligence in higher education. She has served in leadership roles for major SUNY FACT² AI initiatives, including the SUNY FACT² Guides to Optimizing AI in Higher Education and systemwide work on evaluating generative AI for teaching, learning, and digital accessibility. She is a member of the SUNY Innovative Instruction Research Council (IIRC) with the mission of making recommendations to the SUNY Chancellor and Provost in support of academic innovation and transformation.
