Description
Edmund Chia and Gemma Tulud Cruz survey non-Western and marginalized Christologies, juxtaposing beliefs from across Asia, Africa, and South America with feminist and migrant Christologies.
While not ignoring Euro/American theologies, they amplify voices from the global majority, social margins, ethnic communities, and religions other than Christianity. Thus, beyond featuring conventional theologians such as Augustine, Aquinas, and Barth, they attend to Buddhist and Muslim scholarship, Indian and Chinese thinking, and African and Latin American Christological symbols. While Jesus is presented as Lamb of God and Christ as risen Lord, Jesus is also interrogated as junzi, bodhisattva and sannyasi, and Christ scrutinized as supreme ancestor, crucified sage, and protector-liberator.
