Description

As the world transitions from a hegemonic unipolarity toward a polycentric world of sovereign states, a philosophical cosmopolitanism must serve as the basis for global justice and peace.

This edited collection demonstrates the imperative of dialogical relationships in our globally interrelated world if we are to solve acute social and global problems.

The contributors-coming from Eastern and Western Europe, South and North America, and South and East Asia-draw on various cultural and philosophical traditions that express ideas of harmony in diversity and interculturality. These perspectives help them answer central philosophical and political questions: What are the root causes of the acute social and global problems of today? What are their possible solutions? What is the nature of the current changes in the world? What are the desirable and feasible positive alternatives for societies and humanity? The escalation of global problems threatening the future of humanity-such as nuclear proliferation, climate change, and underdevelopment-necessitates this transition as a condition for the solution to acute social and global problems, which requires the transformation of societies and of international relations.

With their own philosophical and cultural perspectives, the contributors express a common ground in standing for universal human values and prioritizing the vital interests of the individual and humanity as a whole.
