Description
Pargeting is the decoration of plastered and rendered finishes on the outside of a building.
It is associated mainly with East Anglia, but there is a revival of interest in the technique. Affording a convenient way of completely changing the appearance of a building, it comprises a range of techniques and styles, from simple geometric patterns scratched into the wet plaster of rural cottages to elaborate architectural ornamentation on street frontages.
This study describes how craftsmen are being commissioned to renew their acquaintance with pargeting.
