Description
The second instalment of the gloriously gothic Wyrdos trilogy, where magical rivals must battle for survival in a visceral and deadly world. Queer, high fantasy perfect for fans of Gideon the Ninth and The Atlas Six.
From the rubble of the old world, a new and deadlier one awaits.
Former rivals Alix and Elliot may have survived the apocalypse, but now that the curse on Fourspires has lifted, they find themselves in Newspires, a lethal world built on fish bones and salt. Magic has new rules here and deadly games of manipulation must be played to survive. In this unfamiliar and cutthroat city plagued by twisted monsters, Alix and Elliot must choose between hatred and burning passion.
Meanwhile, Taro has forced her way into the Netherworld in a desperate chase for Nixie, whether she wants to be found or not. But they're not alone - a familiar enemy still haunts them, and Taro and Nixie will need to communicate with the living if they're ever going to banish it once and for all.
Because deep in the Newspires castle, the Drowning Rooms hold a terrifying secret nearly lost to history; if exposed, it could alter not only this world, but the one below.

Reviews
-
'These Shattered Spires is a grotesque extravaganza of a book, with a labyrinthine quest and complex, morally grey characters you can't help but root for. I've never had so much fun.' Bea Fitzgerald, author of Girl, Goddess, Queen
-
'Utterly fabulous and darkly imaginative. Complicated, flawed characters shine in a world of grit and bloodshed, all brought to life through effortlessly evocative prose. I devoured every page.' Elise Kova, New York Times Bestselling Author of Arcana Academy
-
'Part fantastical court intrigue, part murder mystery, part lush queer romance, and part dysfunctional found family. At times, the writing is humorous, at others it bites like a scorpion's sting.' Katy Nyquist, author of the A Holy Maiden's Guide to Getting Kidnapped
-
'Absolutely perfect for fans of Gideon the Ninth, These Shattered Spires pulses with the weird and wonderful macabre. Salter weaves a ragtag crew of lovable misfits with uniquely grim world-building that is impossible to forget.' Catelyn Wilson, author of All the Devils with Penguin
-
'Gruesome, gothic, gay and glorious. I ate this up from cover to cover. Addictively weird, heartfelt and a bloody good time!' Kat Dunn, author of Bitterthorn
-
'These Shattered Spires is the weirdest book I've read this year, which is the highest praise I can give. It is delightfully grotesque, exquisitely macabre and viscerally strange' Alwyn Hamilton, author of Rebel in the Sands
