Description

This book gathers Afrodiasporic and Black feminist perspectives on Afrodiasporic speculative literatures and Black speculative fiction.

Seeking to deepen the knowledge and understanding of Afrofuturism as a literary aesthetic and analytical tool for engaging contemporary and global expressions of the Black experience, this collection features authors who focus specifically on global iterations of Black speculative fiction, whether produced in the US, UK, or elsewhere. Through literary readings that turn to issues of Black liberation politics, decolonization, religion, spirituality, aesthetics, the city, motherhood, and feminism, these essays engage questions and concepts of speculative Blackness in local, transnational, and global contexts.
