This work weaves together photographs, storytelling, and critical analysis to illuminate the rich tapestry of visuals. Through a blend of examining black girlhood, Black feminist theory, and photographs the book examines how societal visual perceptions and representations shapes the lives of Black girls. Furthermore, the author brings together these ideas to create Black girlhood as Oppositional Knowledge or BGVOK. A process and a product which is outlined throughout the narrative of the book.
