Description
North East India, a region of remarkable landscapes and rich biodiversity, has increasingly come to the forefront of discussions on climate change. The impacts of a changing climate are already reshaping lives, ecosystems, and local economies across the region. In this context, effective climate communication is critical for driving informed action, fostering resilience, and supporting pathways towards sustainable development.
The Compendium on Climate Change Communication: Narratives from India's North East is an outcome of a series of collaborative initiatives o'Climate Change and the Role of Media' undertaken jointly by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and the Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University, Assam, India, during 2025. The media play a pivotal role in communicating climate change to communities. With the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, a comprehensive examination of the medias role in informing and communicating climate change has become a critical exercise. This initiative by ASDMA and Gauhati University aims to strengthen community resilience through informed and responsible communication.
