Description
How do gendered ideas shape, whose stories are told, whose labour is recognised, and whose rights
are protected? Bringing together the research papers from the GSGP 2025 International Seminar, this
volume examines these questions across literature, law, media, education, health, technology, and the
environment.
The contributors reconsider women's lives and representations in fiction, theatre, folklore,
film, and life writing, while exploring questions of identity, family, ageing, violence, and
resistance. Historical studies of property rights, labour, religious texts, and customary practices sit
alongside analyses of maternal health, school dropout, trafficking, menstrual leave, and access to justice.
Other chapters investigate workplace opportunity, leadership, digital privacy, algorithmic bias, and the
possibilities of social media activism.
Although many contributions are grounded in India, the volume also engages with diaspora,
Postcolonial Nations, Indigenous identity, and global supply chains. Discussions of environmental
protection and the literary representation of the Ganga extend its inquiry into the relationship between
society and ecology.
