Description
A volume of cutting-edge studies in Christian doctrine from a leading theologian. Oliver Crisp seek to re-frame how we think about key claims about theological method, divine and human agency, and salvation emphasizing the need for a constructive approach to dogmatics.
The first section concerns methodological concerns in theology. It includes chapters on the limits of retrieval theology; on the place of theology in the modern university; and on the authority of Scripture. The second section deals with divine and human agency. This includes chapters on divine providence, on human free will and determinism, and the relationship between God and the creation.
The the work explores salvation. It includes chapters on how sin and salvation are transferred from one person to another; on how Christ remains connected to his human body while it is in the grave; and on the recent work on atonement of the American philosophical theologian, William Lane Craig.
