Biography

Bahar Dutt is a trailblazing Indian conservation biologist and award-winning environmental journalist. She worked as the environmental editor for CNN-IBN, where she brought environmental journalism from the fringes to the traditionally politics-heavy prime-time news television space. Over her twenty-year career, Dutt has reported from the Arctic to Indonesian rainforests. For a decade prior to her work as a journalist, Bahar collaborated with a community of snake charmers on a project she initiated, helping them transition to alternative livelihoods aligned with wildlife conservation laws. She is the recipient of the prestigious Wildscreen Award, the Ramnath Goenka Award and the American Association for the Advancement of Science Award, among others. Bahar is the author of Green Wars: Dispatches from a Vanishing World and Rewilding in India. She is currently an associate professor at Shiv Nadar University.
