Biography

Brian Schaffner is the Newhouse Professor of Civic Studies in the Department of Political Science and the Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University, and Co-Director of the Cooperative Election Study. He writes for general readers as often as for academic ones. He has authored op-eds in The New York Times, writes regularly for Good Authority, and has a substantial following for his research posts on X and BlueSky. He is the author of Hometown Inequality (2020), The Acceptance and Expression of Prejudice during the Trump Era (2020), and Campaign Finance and Political Polarization (2015), and his work has appeared in more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles. He has won several national awards for his research and was awarded an Andrew Carnegie Fellowship.
