Biography

Dhananjay Singh is Assistant Professor of Hindi at Dr S. R. K. Government Arts College, Puducherry. His research focuses on labour migration, Bhojpuri folk traditions and the vernacular cultural histories of North India. His work engages with the writings and performance traditions of Bhikhari Thakur, gendered experiences of migration, lament traditions and the documentation of endangered folk practices rooted in oral memory. He is the author of several books in Hindi and has published in leading academic journals. He has also been a Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, and the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML), New Delhi.
