Michael Barker acts on behalf of the Lutyens Trust in France. He serves on the Franco-British committee for the Thiepval Visitor Centre, for which he advised on the building of the project (2000–2004), devised the content of the displays and wrote the guide-book texts for Sir Edwin Lutyens, Civic Memory, Remembrance and Reconstruction. He is a past chairman of the Decorative Arts Society.
