Seyyed Hossein Nasr is an Iranian-American philosopher, Islamic scholar, and theologian renowned for his work in Islamic philosophy, Sufism, perennial philosophy, and the critique of modernity. Exiled from Iran in 1979 and currently University Professor of Islamic Studies at George Washington University, he is the author of over 50 books, among them Religion and the Order of Nature and Islam in the Modern World, and 500 articles. His thought emphasizes the resacralization of knowledge, the unity of religious traditions, and Islamic environmental ethics.
