Broken Lances is a campaign skirmish game of condotta warfare in Renaissance Italy. Command a small banner of just a few lances – mounted men-at-arms, armored squires, and support soldiers – in service to a larger mercenary force. As you lead your men through the raids and skirmishes of the narrative campaign system, new recruits will be attracted by your growing reputation and new opportunities will present themselves. Strength of arms is only half the battle, however. Maneuver, attrition, and back-door diplomacy are just as pivotal – after all, what good is victory on the battlefield if you need to spend all your earnings to restore your banner to fighting strength? The objective isn't always to win the fight, but rather to survive and prosper. Live to fight again; live to enjoy the spoils of war.
