Description
Reconciling Southern and Northern perspectives, this book moves beyond fractured hegemonic debates to foster collaborative understandings of multilingualisms. It draws its case studies from transnational experiences framed around two questions: how can multilingualisms enhance the impact of education in communities and how can formal education be enhanced by drawing on the experiences of informal educational activities that foreground multilingualisms?
Through careful reciprocal listening, each chapter's contributors engage with the articulation of Southern perspectives, the development of transnational theorization, and broad questions about the impact and implications of these perspectives. These chapters explore research, practice and scholarship conducted in situated, local classroom and community contexts, drawing insights from ongoing collaborations, respectful partnerships and alliance, and action-oriented fieldwork and activism.
