Biography

Krisztina Tóth (b. Budapest 1967) is a celebrated and award winning Hungarian author whose work spans poetry, prose, drama, and children’s literature. Originally trained in sculpture and glass artistry, she infuses her writing with sharp formal precision and dark, absurdist humour. She expanded her extensive repertoire into drama with her acclaimed play The Bat (A denevér), alongside major poetry collections like My Secret Life and her bestselling dystopian novel Eye of the Monkey. An outspoken advocate for women’s rights, Tóth now lives and works internationally between Switzerland and Hungary, remaining a defining independent voice in European contemporary literature.
