Stefanie Pukallus is Professor of Public Communication and Civil Development at the University of Sheffield, UK and Founding Chair of The Hub for the Study of Hybrid Communication in Peacebuilding (HCPB). Her research expertise is the transformative capacity of communication and the role of public communication in civil societies. Previous books include Communication in Peacebuilding (2022), The Building of Civil Europe, 1951-1972 (2019), Representations of European Citizenship since 1951 (2016), Contestation in Civil Society: Noise, Listening, and Civil Action (2025), and The Routledge Handbook of Conflict and Peace Communication (2025). Her work has also been widely published in journals including Journalism and Media; Journal of Peacebuilding & Development; Journalism; Media, Culture and Society; International Review of Public Policy; and Contemporary European History.
