Real Presence

The Sacramentality of the Present Moment

Description

Christ's real presence is manifested not only in the Eucharist, but also in all aspects and subsections throughout humanity--the author engages with many of these manifestations, devoting an entire chapter to the exploration of each.

Broadening the scope of God's real presence in the world, this work examines the principle that God is continually revealing Godself to humanity in many other ways than only the Eucharist. Because Christ is revealing Himself through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit within us, each moment can be seen as a “Sacrament of the present moment.” The book continues to discuss the principle of sacramentality and how each moment we are alive on this earth is a sacramental moment involving more than we can be mortally aware of. This moment is not only a moment in time, but a reflection of the timelessness of all of eternity.

Christ continues to reveal his presence to us not only through the Eucharistic Banquet, but Christ attempts to encounter us with his presence throughout all created reality. Because Christians believe in faith that after the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ we received in Baptism is in us as the Body of Christ. Because the resurrected Christ is now the universal Christ, throughout all of creation, the entire universe has become “Christocentric.” Therefore, all created reality, now being imbued with the presence of Christ at its center can prove to be a potential encounter with the “REAL PRESENCE” of Christ, a greater interest not only to Catholics, but because of its universality, to Christians of all denominations.
