Andrew M. Mbuvi (Series Editor), Musa W. Dube (Series Editor)

The New Testament: An African Reading is the first comprehensive scholarly engagement of the entire New Testament by African biblical scholars of different backgrounds, establishing a one-stop reference resource for African biblical scholarship research, both academic and non-academic. Taking seriously the interaction of the African reality with the biblical text -- its histo-politic-socio-relgio cultural contexts -- this multi-authored series showcases the variety of interpretive approaches practiced by African biblical scholar and highlights the distinctiveness of African biblical interpretations. The series pays close attention to methodology in addressing issues related to colonial and postcolonial history, gender and sexuality, socio-economic concerns, environmental and ecological issues, and religious realities. The series allows African scholars to prioritize their African context(s) as an interpretive matrix, bringing to their interpretation of the New Testament African cultural and religious wisdom (e.g., proverbs, songs, religious myths and practices, creative literature, etc.) to arrive at uniquely inspired interpretations of the New Testament.
